Gas chromatographic determination of methoxyflurane in whole blood.

چکیده
Sir,—It was interesting to read that Drs Jones, Molloy and Rosen used a similar injection technique to ours for analysis of volatile anaesthetics in whole blood (Brit. J. Anaesth. (1972), 44, 124). We have found pretreatment of blood samples to be unnecessary if glass liners are used in the injection port, columns are made of liquid methyl silicone (OV101) and the solid support is Chromosorb W or G. These columns allow clean separation of the water peak from methoxyflurane and all other volatile anaesthetic agents. Precision is +1.7 per cent and recovery from blood is 100 per cent. Analysis time is approximately 2 minutes, samples may be as small as 50 /*1. and minimal labour is involved (Cousins and Mazze, 1972).

Br.J. Anaesth. (1975), 47, 1043 A METHOD FOR THE GAS CHROMATOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS OF INHALATION ANAESTHETICS IN WHOLE BLOOD BY DIRECT INJECTION INTO A SIMPLE PRECOLUMN DEVICE
A simple heated precolumn device constructed from standard gas chromatographic components is described and evaluated. The device permits the analysis of concentrations of anaesthetic agents by direct injection of whole blood containing a suitable internal standard. A method is described for the analysis of halothane, chloroform, trichloroethylene, and methoxyflurane. The procedure is rapid and ...

متن کاملGas-chromatographic/mass-spectrometric determination of theophylline in whole blood.
We describe a combined gas-chromatographic mass-spectrometric method for determination of theophylline in whole blood. With use of a probability-based matching approach, the extensive gas-chromatographic interference did not affect mass-spectrometric quantitation of theophylline. Concentrations expected and found were linearly related from 1 to 60 mg/liter; the run-to-run coefficient of variati...
متن کاملFirst Report on Screening of the Profiles of the Essential Oils and Volatiles from the Aerial Parts of Marrubium persicum Using Classical and Advanced Methods Prior to Gas Chromatographic Mass Spectrometric Determination
The Lamiaceae family consists of a broad spectrum of medicinal plants involving Marrubium L. genus. Regarding the diverse pharmaceutical uses of the plants belonging to this genus, they can be considered as proper alternatives for chemical drugs having harmful effects. The present work aims to identify and characterize chemical compositions of the essential oils and volatiles from the aerial pa...
متن کاملSolubility of haloether anesthetics in human and animal blood.
BACKGROUND Anesthetic blood solubility predicts pharmacokinetics for inhaled agents and is essential for determination of blood anesthetic concentrations from end-tidal gas concentrations using Henry's Law. Though used to model anesthetic effects in humans, there are limited interspecies solubility comparisons that include modern haloethers. This study aimed to measure hematocrit-adjusted blood...
